Evraz Vítkovice Steel halted steel production in Ostrava and said that it expects the suspension to last for the month of April. It cited the low demand in Europe for steel and its sufficient stockpiles. No layoffs are planned. Production was suspended for three months at the end of last year. /Slightly negative. ArcelorMittal Ostrava (AMO) sells about one-third of its pig iron to Evraz. AMO, in turn, buys 34% of the coking coal of NWR. There could be a risk for NWR that AMO could lower its coking coal demand in 2Q12
