Yesterday, Prague Energy Exchange (PXE) experienced its first day of compound future product where baseload contracts for 2008&2009 were traded. Price for 2008 was fixed at EUR 50.42/MWh and price for 2009 closed at EUR56.05/MWh. This implies average price for 2008&2009 at EUR 53.5/MWh. The amount of 2.2m/MWh was traded yesterday on PXE representing around 3.6% of CEZ electricity production in 2006. Future contract 2008 as well as 2009 were traded at EUR 55/MWh in Germany which is EUR 1.5MWh above the average price of EUR 53.5/MWh of compound products traded on PXE. Our view: We expect that the electricity prices for 2009 should not dramatically change over the next month. We see the result from the first day of trading future compound product as neutral.
