The current account a reached moderate surplus of CZK 1.2bn after several months in negative territory. The positive balance in the foreign trade and services area overweighed the outflow of dividends. For the full year, the deficit in the current account most probably declined again to under CZK 100bn. The 2007 deficit in the current account should decrease to 2.8% of GDP from 3.1% of GDP in 2006. The outside imbalance should be far enough from any sensitive threshold of the financial markets as to not be a cause for concern – which seems to be borne out by the CZK's strengthening in the last few weeks.
