The Czech market outperformed its neighboring markets yesterday, which were falling, as the PX-50 index edged 0.3% higher, mainly thanks to gains in utilities (CEZ and Unipetrol), but volumes remained low. Activity increased in the afternoon session on both sides. CEZ finished higher despite seeing an intraday decline. This was mainly due to international buying toward the end of the session. Both banks closed lower on a lack of any positive catalyst. Zentiva got hit at the close and declined amid profit taking. Continuing demand for Unipetrol shares pushed the price to a fresh all-time high again.
