Last week OMV announced the purchase of Aral filling stations in the Czech Republic. The company paid CZK 5.3bn. (USD 210m). This meant that Unipetrol failed to win the tender. The Austrian OMV plans to invest EUR 3-4m in the network. OMV acquired 70 Aral filling stations and in total will now operate 216 stations, making it the largest foreign retailer in the CR. Unipetrol’s Benzina still owns the most filling stations (300) but has agreed to sell 1/3 of them to ConocoPhilips. Note that Unipetrol is on Patria’s restricted list.
