CEZ has reconnected the 1,000MW reactor at its Temelin NPP following two months of maintenance to allow annual servicing and fuel exchange. The reactor output is stabilized at 60% in order to finish tests before bringing the unit to full capacity.
CEZ repeated that it will close four brown coal power plants in its portfolio in the future due to a lack of brown coal and mining limits. Under current mining limits CEZ may replace up to 45% of its brown coal capacity of 6,500 MW. Should the limits be broken CEZ may replace up to 70% of the capacity. A decision regarding capacity replacement by other sources, i.e. nuclear or gas, should be made by the end of the year.
