In the end the Czech market closed almost flat as falls on blue-chips offset the rising second-tier stocks like Zentiva and Unipetrol. Banks were under major pressure as KB fell –0.78% and Erste –0.3%. CEZ was better offered throughout the day and closed below CZK 550. Unipetrol however gained 2.1% even though the stock was down almost 3% early in the afternoon. Zentiva went through the 900 level after almost a month, investors probably speculating that Warburg Pincus will no longer be selling their stake on the market. Market activity remained subdued as volumes did not reach even half of the year-to-date average daily volumes.
