Although Unipetrol was worst hit as investors locked in the recent sharp rally of the stock, it still continued to be one of the most actively traded stocks of the day. The rest of the market traded down in sympathy with pan-European bourses. Cesky Telecom dropped 0.5% and Komercni banka shed over 1.3%. Overall, activity was only average. Investors are awaiting the second series of annual results, due Feb 28.
The Czech National Bank board is holding a monetary policy meeting today. The market expects no changes in interest rates. Patria expects rates to be cut by 25 bps to 2.0%. A press conference is planned for 3:30pm CET.
