PKN Chief Executive Igor Chalupec repeated that the takeover of the stake in the oil company Unipetrol still represents one of the key priorities for the company. He said the completion of the Unipetrol purchase has been delayed by management changes at PKN and by continuing talks to get approval of the transaction from the European Commission. Chalupec added that PKN sent in January the third draft of the application for antitrust clearance and that the EC responded that the draft did not have many shortcomings. PKN is meeting the commission on Feb 11 to clarify the pending issues. After that the company should prepare the final application. The EC then has 25 days to inform whether the application is approved. We now expect the transaction with the Czech state to be settled at the end of March/beginning of April, with the buyout called by end of May. Please note that Unipetrol is on Patria’s “Watch List”.
