Reuters reported that Zentiva is considering two smaller acquisitions in Poland. Nevertheless, Zentiva's CFO told us that while the company has been monitoring possible acquisitions in Eastern and Western Europe (specifically in Poland) there are no any immediate concrete opportunities. The company expects the Polish pharma market to outgrow the Czech and Slovak market (30% y/y vs. 5 -10% y/y) in the coming years. Zentiva is also considering a larger acquisition that should, according to its CFO, protect the company from being taken over. The news is in line with previous Zentiva statements and its expansionary plans into Poland, Russia and possibly Western Europe. The company did not rule out possible expansion into Hungary and Slovenia either.
