The Cabinet should discuss the framework of the new state energy policy today (the discussion was postponed for a week). The draft reportedly proposes a cancellation of the coal-mining limits (which would result in the longer availability of the domestic coal supply and possibly its lower price in the medium term) and expansion of the nuclear-energy power plants.
There are no indications so far how (and if at all) the state would use its majority stake in CEZ to reach goals set out in the policy. Moreover, disputes regarding the final version of the framework continue between the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of the Environment. Neutral at the moment.
