LN Daily notes that the intensity of the competition on the Czech fuel retail market might increase as (i) Slovnaft of Slovakia wants to penetrate the domestic market to gain at least 10% market share, and (ii) some hypermarkets want to expand their services to fuel retail (they usually charge only minimum margins on fuel, while increasing the sold volumes, and possibly margins of other goods). Benzina (100% owned by Unipetrol) is one of the major players on the domestic market (25% of the retail stations) and would certainly be affected by the above.
