The market sentiment over the globe turned out to be very strong today. Major European indices for instance started their week very good and closed between 1.6 and 2 percent higher than Friday’s levels. Stronger-than-expected earnings from Citigroup and Bank of America helped lift the DOW industrials on Monday as second-quarter earnings season kicked off with a hit from the financial sector.
The same goes for the Prague stock exchange where the banks helped propel the PX50 index to gain 1.84% to close at 560.4 points. Erste Bank and Komercni Banka are responsible for 8.07 out of the 10.10 points the index gained. Erste Bank is the biggest winner with 3.62%, while Komercni Banka improved by 2.02% on decent volume.(USD 10.14 Mil.) Another very strong performer was CEZ with a nice run of 2.44%.
