Oracle corp is competing with other U.S. computer companies to win government contracts in Eastern Europe as countries there seek to update and integrate their systems, executives said at a conference in Como, Italy. Computer company executives and officials from governments across Europe attended a European Union-sponsored conference at Lake Como, near Milan, to discuss ways to boost government efficiency through information technology.
The market for supplying computer systems and services to governments will grow three times faster than the industry as a whole and is worth USD 70 billion, said An Livermore, Hewlett-Packard's executive vice president for services. (Source: Bloomberg)
