According to Polish daily Puls Biznesu, the replacement of the Idea brand by Orange is being investigated by the prosecutor's office in Warsaw. The investigation was prompted by a report by the Adam Smith Research Insitute, which estimated the costs of the brand replacement at US$ 1bn. A PiS politician, Krzysztof Tchorzewski, has pointed to the licencing cost, equating to 1.6% of annual earnings, as an operation that has reduced the company's Polish taxes. The announcement of the brand replacement was widely viewed by investors as negative so we could see a mildly positive reaction to the announcement.
