CEZ announced that it is considering shutting down one of its coal power plants during the summer season when electricity demand is low (in recent years, only half of this plant’s capacity was used in the summer season). The measure would reflect expected increased electricity imports in 2002 (one of the eight regional domestic distributors significantly reduced electricity purchases from CEZ this year). The stock is unlikely to react.
CEZ’s IAS 2001 results will be released on April 17. CEZ has indicated that its IAS net is CZK 9.3 bil.; the results should therefore have little influence on the stock.
