An inter-ministry committee yesterday declared a joint bid by Cesky Telecom and Autocont On-line the winner of a tender for providing Internet access to Czech schools. The contract is worth CZK 4.4 bil. over five years (of this, CZK 1.7 bil. is earmarked for this year). This is not major news: Cesky Telecom and Autocont On-line’s bid was the only one that met the tender conditions, and securing the contract by the two companies was therefore expected. What is news is that the Anti-Monopoly Office approved the tender earlier in the week (following complaints by the rejected bidders), thus clearing the way for the formal declaration of the tender winner yesterday. Positive for Cesky Telecom stock.
