The PX 50 index rose 1.86% to 350.6 points on Wednesday. The day’s negative sentiment on US markets led to a weaker opening in Prague, but foreign investors stepped in later in the day, their interest was mainly in Cesky Telecom, Ceska Sporitelna and CEZ. Cesky Telecom was the most active stock, and climbed 4.0% to CZK 261.30. There was significant demand for Ceska Sporitelna, the second most heavily traded stock yesterday; its price went temporarily as high as CZK 283.2, but there seems to be resistance at the CZK 280 level. Total volume in Prague reached USD 15.2 mil.
