The Prague-based HN newspaper reports today that independent power producers intend to send a memorandum to the Ministry of Industry to protest against CEZ’s intention to substantially lower electricity prices and profitability in an effort to re-gain domestic market share. We expected some manner of protest, and believe that the case could be reviewed by the Anti-monopoly Office. Nevertheless, at this point we are rather skeptical about the prospects of such efforts to restrain CEZ’s new pricing strategy. Neutral.
Also, the Czech foreign minister and the Austrian environment minister should discuss the Temelin nuclear power plant at a meeting today.
