The PX-50 index lost 1.04% to 370.60 points on Wednesday. The day’s session was quiet with trading volume totaling a slim USD 8.64 mil. Ceske radio, as expected, slid below the CZK 400 level after Cabinet failed to address its privatization; only 101,000 shares changed hands. Cesky Telecom lost 0.81%, but buyers of the stock were present after US Q2/2001 GDP data were released. Given the US’ weaker closing overnight, however, we expect the Czech market to continue in its downward trend; an ECB rates decision is scheduled for today at 13:30 CET. Trading in Prague is likely to be light again today.
