The Prague PX-50 index added 1.56% to 430.80 points on Friday, when Cesky Telecom gained 2.64% to CZK 365.20. The stock rose sharply late in the day, perhaps on the back of information, reported by newspapers just today, that Cesky Telecom is close to acquiring the remaining 49% stake in Eurotel (see below). Philip Morris CR was also a top gainer, adding 1.94% to CZK 5,878, after the market realized a recent price correction was unjustified (there was selling pressure on Thursday after a US court ruled that Philip Morris in the US must pay USD 3 bil. in damages). Total market volume reached USD 8.75 mil. on Friday.
