Cesky Telecom was the loser of the day on Tuesday as both domestic and international investors sold the stock and there were virtually no serious bids. The stock lost 3.18% and closed at CZK 620.40; it lost almost 7% in the last five sessions. Some on the market fear that KPN’s interest elsewhere (focus on mobile telephony, the Internet, UMTS, etc.) will force it to re-think its interest in Cesky Telecom’s privatization. However, a KPN official said yesterday that CT “will not be overlooked.” Other stocks followed CT’s weakness yesterday; Unipetrol was once again under strong selling pressure, losing 3.70%, and closed under CZK 60 at CZK 58.59. Daily volumes reached USD 10.12 mil. yesterday.
