Czech Telecommunications office and the Ministry of Transport and Communications yesterday launched a tender for the fixed wireless access licenses (FWA), which allow high-speed data transmission to the end user. As such, these licenses are valuable for alternative operators, who do not own “last mile” infrastructure. Three licenses will be issued, each for a CZK 150 mil. fee. The 20-year licenses will be awarded on September 21.
Also, Ceske radiokomunikace’s RadioMobil and Cesky Telecom’s EuroTel reported that they are ready to launch their 1800 MHz services on July 8. Thus far, they have been allowed to operate on the 900 MHz frequency only. Only the third operator—TIW’s Cesky Mobil—has been permitted to use the 1800 frequency since receiving its license last year. The additional frequencies give EuroTel and RadioMobil more transmission capacity and allow them to offer better coverage and higher transmission speed.
