The most recent research on election preferences conducted by CVVM showed a little change: Czech social democrats lead the poll with a moderate edge over the ODS. CSSD would probably acquire 22% of the total votes, ODS could get one percent less. The coalition of Union of freedom and KDU-CSL could earn about 17% of the votes, former communist party KSCM with 14%.
Social Democrat Milan Stech was elected the new chairman of the Bohemian and Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions as expected. Senator Stech displaces the outgoing boss of the Unions Richard Falbr.
Participants of the Saturday’s Group of Seven industrialized nations meeting came to following conclusion: current global financial system is more stabile than ever before – the fact was confirmed by just local influence of recent problems in Turkey and Argentina.
The European Commission suggested to the member sates of the EU to impose trade sanctions towards the USA as a counter reaction on the unilateral taxes on steel import to the USA. And besides that, the USA did not agree to pay suggested financial compensation. The European Commission would like to see trade barriers on “politically sensitive” goods such as citrus, juice, textile, steel, weapons, rice and electronic appliances.
Although the Fidesz (Young democrats) and MDF (Hungarian democratic forum) won the second round of Hungarian parliamentary elections, they are not going to the government. Union of free democrats SZDSZ would like to create a ruling coalition with the winner of the first round, social democrats. The coalition would have a working majority of 198 chairs in the 386 chairs’ Parliament.
