(Ondřej Daťka) In a “Pravo” newspaper interview today, Cesky Telecom CEO Premysl Klima does not say anything substantially new, worth mentioning is that he expects Eurotel contract to be signed “within weeks” (USD 1.475 bil. price for the 49% stake had been agreed upon). He says that the price to be paid is “fair” and that the acquisition will help Cesky Telecom privatization by simplifying ownership structure and raising the company’s strategic value. He also suggested (and that is perhaps the only truly interesting information) that the regulator is willing to negotiate further about UMTS license price and conditions (Eurotel has applied for a UMTS license at CZK 6.7 bil., but subject to improved conditions on the payment period, roll-out period, number of licenses, etc.).
