The European Commission has completed a “final document” related to the Temelin nuclear power plant’s safety. While Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kavan said that the document is favorable for the Czech side, Austrian Environment Ministry spokesman said that the document confirms Austrian claims. The report is part of the process based on the “Melk” agreement between the Czech and Austrian governments; its exact content and impact will be known after it is discussed by Czech and Austrian officials.
Separately, the MFDnes newspaper quotes British Energy as denying speculation that it wants to buy the Temelin plant independently of the block of the Czech power-sector assets slated for privatization. BE said that it is talking with other companies regarding the formation of consortium toward Czech power-sector privatization.
Neither news is likely to impact the stock.
