The Czech PX-50 index rose 1.12% to 433.5 points on Thursday, driven by both domestic telecoms. Ceske radiokomunikace broke CZK 600 and closed at CZK 622.5 (up 6.7%); its shares have risen more than 12% since Monday, when the government confirmed that TeleDanmark/Deutsche Bank had improved its bid for the state’s 51% stake in Ceske radiokomunikace, to approximately USD 300 mil. Cesky Telecom added 2.7% yesterday given the positive sentiment related to Ceske radiokomunikace. Also gaining was Komercni banka, which rose 0.6% in calm trading. Other Czech equities were largely outside any major trading interest. Total market volume dropped substantially and reached only USD 6.5 mil.
