A decision on merging Spolana with Unipetrol prior to Unipetrol’s privatization is expected to be addressed by the Czech Cabinet in a meeting today. The merger, if approved by Cabinet, is subject to review by the Anti-Monopoly Office. If the AMO were to block the merger, the Cabinet could then sell Spolana aside Unipetrol, without merging them. The state’s equity interest in Spolana amounts to 82%. Unless specifics of a merger are released, the related news is unlikely to move the stock.
