Ceske radiokomunikace: Transport and Communications Minister Jaromir Schling said that the government will not agree to sell its 51% stake in Ceske radiokomunikace unless TeleDanmark and Deutsche Bank raise their joint bid. He said that several other companies have expressed interest in the stake after the deadline had passed, though there are no other investor negotiations at present. The Finance Minister has until May 15 to submit an improved TeleDanmark bid to Cabinet. An improved bid would clearly benefit the stock, but we do not expect the stock to respond to such unspecific statements in the meantime.
Separately, Ceske radiokomunikace is to release its Q1 2001 unconsolidated results (CAS), likely on Thursday. These results are usually ignored by the market, given that they represent the performance of the parent company only and do not reflect the company’s major subsidiaries (such as Contactel) or the contribution of RadioMobil.
