Finance Minister Pavel Mertlik said yesterday that Ceske radiokomunikace may be split after privatization should the new owner so choose. The government decided against splitting the company prior to privatization since it would have delayed the whole sale. (There had earlier been speculation about a CR split).
The finance minister also said that the government will go ahead with selling its Ceske radiokomunikace stake, regardless of the current unfavorable sentiment towards telecoms, and that it will seek to conclude Cesky Telecom’s privatization by year-end. Neither stock showed much response to the minister’s statements yesterday.
