(The Fleet Sheet - HN/1) The cabinet agreed yesterday to rationalize ČKD Dopravní systémy by having Konsolidační banka and the NPF subsidiary PAL buy a two-thirds stake from IPB for Kč 50m. The cabinet will decide within a few weeks whether to take a similar step with regard to Vagónka Studénka and CHZ Sokolov. Other such rescues cannot be ruled out, Deputy PM Pavel Mertlík said. (EU/10) Dopravní systémy has a negative net worth and has been ripe for bankruptcy for the past three years, experts say. Ernst & Young argues, though, that putting it into bankruptcy would bring on the immediate collapse of the ČKD Praha holding company and the subsequent collapse of its subsidiaries. Bankruptcy would mean a loss to creditors of Kč 10.5bn, the auditing firm said in a report prepared for IPB. Also, Inekon and Siemens are interested in taking over Dopravní systémy's contracts with help from CSFB. They would create a new company without assuming any of the existing debt.
