PKN Orlen’s CEO informed about Benzina’s plan to split its gas stations into two categories – economical and luxurious with different brand names. Economical gas stations should attract client from lower bottom of customer range by low price, while the luxurious one should provide wider range of services for more demanding clients. This should lead to increased profitability of Benzina which has been suffering lately. Benzina controls 327 gas stations, what is 13% of the market. Reclassification of gas stations should be roughly in proportion of 1/3 vs. 2/3 in favour of cheaper brand with more details to be announced by the end of June. Given that similar development in Poland had success we see the news positively in the light of restructuring efforts, however for the moment we reiterate our Sell recommendation for Unipetrol as a group.
