Hungary's simplified business tax (EVA) will be raised to 25% from 15% from September 1 and national health insurance contributions will double from 4%, business daily Világgazdaság reports.
Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány yesterday announced a general outline of the government's new program, but again reiterated that details would only be published on June 10. Világgazdaság, quoting unnamed sources, said the hikes would be the main tools for moderating real wage growth. According to the information of the newspaper, government plans to raise income side of the budget by HUF 170bn this year through various tax hikes while HUF 200bn would be cut from expenditures.
