Lithuanian newspaper Lietuvos Rytas reported yesterday that supplies to Mazeikiu Refinery fell to 32,000 tons the day before yesterday from an average of 38,000 tons in the past three weeks and 42,000 tons in earlier months. In the same time Mazeikiu spokesman called these numbers erroneous, adding that it's normal that supplies fluctuate from day to day.
Our view:
According to the company's reports the monthly refining rates fluctuate from 800 to 870 thousand tons, which correspond to 27–29 thousands tons on the daily basis. Therefore, even the figures reported by Lietuvos Rytas should be sufficient to guarantee the sufficient production volumes. Please note that last year company processed 9.3 mt of crude oil (25 thousands tones per day in average). Nevertheless considering the last claims of Lukoil as well as political tensions between Poland and Russia and also Lithuania and Russia the risk of supply shortages still remain on the list.
