NPP Temelin was shut down yesterday afternoon as there was a defect on oil regulation system. NPP Temelin ceased to supply energy into the grid and should resume today in the morning.
Our view:
Some defects at this type of generation facility is normal, however lately there were more shut downs than is healthy. Generation in NPP is crucial for CEZ margins as the cheapest source of electricity must be substituted with more expensive coal production. We estimate that a full day shutdown of one block leads to an extra costs of CZK 12.5m. We don’t expect any trading impact on CEZ today as the shut down is only short one.
