Bulgaria will choose general supplier to finalize construction of its 2,000 MW NPP Belene in first half of September. CEZ’s affiliate Skoda Praha is one of two bidders via Skoda JS consortium. Improved bids were submitted at the beginning of August as Bulgarian government called for lower price.
Our view:
As the region will suffer from electricity supply shortage and that Bulgaria is forced to closed two nuclear blocks prior to EU accession, government aims to remain its position of major electricity exporter in SEE region. As CEZ owns100% in Skoda Praha, successful outcome of the tender should have positive impact on CEZ consolidated figures in future.
