The Czech koruna started weaker again, but closed stronger against the euro at 28,44 CZK/EUR. The key point was interview with Czech central banker Singer. He said that the CNB should seriously discuss a rate hike, when there are several inflationary risks. The koruna then firmed and kept its gains during the second part of today session.
The CZK firmed significantly against the dollar, closing at 22,32 CZK/USD. The move was boosted by the USD losses on the USD/EUR market. The dollar trades weaker after hawkish comments of ECB president Trichet. Better-than-expected US retail sales only slowed the USD weakening.
