1st block of NPP Temelin was disconnected yesterday early morning. System automatically disconnected turbine and reduced reactor performance to 37%. All this was caused as a result of moisture on one of the electrical parts in a non-nuclear section. The maintenance should last for only 24 hours after which the block will be reconnected to the grid.
Our view:
As we said previously certain amount of failures at this type of equipment is normal; however the number of days when either of Temelin’s blocks is out of service is rising. As the generation in nuclear plants is the cheapest for CEZ, it should try to eliminate these failures as much as possible. The news was out yesterday morning during trading session, so we don’t expect to have trading impact today.
