Social Democrats (CSSD) lost of its member, Michal Pohanka, who left the party yesterday.
The departure of Mr. Pohanka from the CSSD weakens the position of the left wing as it can not rely on even certain 100 seats in the Lower House. Therefore, should the president name someone from the centre-right to form a Government, most likely next week, there is a high change that a new Government may be formed and given the vote of confidence. In this case, based on the recent polls and senate&local elections showing a strong lead of the ODS (Civic Democrats) we would expect the new Government to be a technocratic one bringing the country into early elections next year. This could give the centre-right a comfortable majority in the Lower House.
