The current Finance Minister, Vlastimil Tlusty, and a high-ranked member of the ODS party said yesterday that he could accept CSSD’s proposal for a tolerance of ODS minority Government. CSSD, however, plans to support the Government for 2 years, i.e. until 2008. Note that ODS would prefer early elections in 2007.
Our view: ODS have been rejected CSSD’s proposals for a grand coalition of a ODS led minority Government for 2 years while pushing for an interim Government, which would lead into early elections next year. Even though, Tlusty’s comments may seem like a step ahead, we still expect the Lower House to go through the three attempts before early elections are held.
