The head of Social Democrats (CSSD) offered to Civic Democrats (ODS), which will form new government, the Grand coalition or support of the minority ODS’s government. For exchange CSSD asks for a guarantee of “exclusivity negotiation”. The ODS confirmed the previous decision to start talks with former coalition partners Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and Greens.
Our view:
ODS rejected the CSSD’s proposal for the Grand coalition again and aim to form the government which will lead to early elections next year. It seems like we will face all three attempts (now the second) to create the cabinet as a number of chairs in the parliament are equal for the right and left parties.
