According to ERU report, gross electricity consumption in Czech Republic reach historic maximum 71 TWh in 2006 (+2% y/y). In addition, Czech Republic is a number one in electricity exports per capita in Europe, second is France. Czech Republic will be one of the larges exporters of electricity for next several years according to CEZ spokesperson, Ladislav Kriz
Our view:The trend of increasing electricity consumption has been visible in the past and is linked especially to economic growth of the country and improving standards of living. The news is not surprising, therefore we would see it as neutral for trading. Czech Republic is expected to turn from net electricity exporter to net electricity importer in 2012-2013 depending on the pace of increasing demand.
