CEZ did not deny that it will take a part in tender for renovation and expansion of Albanian power plant Fieri, according to CIA (Czech Information Agency) news. Albanian government intends to open the tender, but no specific details concerning conditions and timeframe were given. Thermal power plant Fieri is owned by state company KESH and generated 76 GWh in 2005. Albania has lack of energy and must import significant part of its consumption.
Our view:
Albania is one of CEZ’s targeted countries in the SEE region. TPP Fieri has installed capacity of only 60 MW which is a small power plant, therefore we see it as rather marginal.
