Business Summary: The Bitcoin Fund (the Fund) is a Canada-based closed-ended investment fund. The investment objectives of the Fund are to seek to provide unitholders of the Fund with exposure to the digital asset bitcoin (bitcoin) and the daily price movements of the United States dollar price of bitcoin, and the opportunity for long-term capital appreciation. The Fund invests in long-term holdings of bitcoin, purchased from reputable bitcoin trading platforms and OTC counterparties, in order to provide investors with an alternative to a direct investment in bitcoin.
Financial Summary: BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2024, Bitcoin Fund revenues increased 18% to $131M. Net income increased 16% to $126.3M. Revenues reflect Net realized gains on sale of digital as increase from $12.2M to $61.5M, Foreign exchange (loss) on cash increase of 32% to -$1K. Net income was partially offset by Operating costs increase of 15% to $168K (expense), Audit fees increase of 6% to $36K (expense).
