According to the PM’s economic advisor, Jan Mladek, financial investors too should be allowed to form consortia with telecom operators to bid for the state’s 51% stake in Cesky Telecom. Mladek also added that he wants to avoid any exclusivity to any bidders so as not to impact the final price. The Cabinet is going to discuss further tender details this week. In a Swiss newspaper Swisscom CEO J. Alder reiterated its interest in Cesky Telecom, but added that the price remains an issue. Source: Reuters
Separately, the number of customers using ADSL has risen to over 100,000 from 15,000 since the beginning of the year, of which 82,000 are from Cesky Telecom and 19,000 from Eurotel.
