Czech equities, as measured by the PX Index, were off by 1.4% in the past week and closed at 1,636.8. The overall volume of trading on the PSE reached USD 791.3m, 16% below its 12M weekly average of USD 942.0m.
Used car dealer Auto experienced the biggest rally during past week. The stock gained almost 19% after the company appointed new CFO (formerly PPF). was another star adding more than 10% after information than PPF intends to launch a bid at CZK 950 per share. Komercni banka showed also good performance and increased by 5.2%. The most traded listing, CEZ, closed the past week with a small gain of 0.5%. Profit taking on , and pushed prices deeply into red.
This Monday, CEZ is traded for the last day with dividend rights. Note that management proposed CZK 40 per share. For this week there are number of 1Q08 results announcements. Komercni banka reports its quarterly numbers on Wednesday (May 14), and both CEZ and on Thursday (May 15).
