S&P downgraded CT's credit rating from A- to BBB+ as it downgraded Telefonica's rating following its acquisition of mobile operator O2. As a general rule, a company cannot have a higher credit rating than its mother company. Hence the downgrade is not a reflection of CT's financial health, and we would not expect material trading impact on CT shares. We maintain our Sell recommendation on CT based on challenging valuations.
