Banks: Adding to our earlier news about the agreement between the banks and the Ministry of Finance (MF) – the bank negotiators prefer to make these changes through an agreement between the banks and the MF; and, not to force legislative changes, as originally proposed by the MF. Banks argue that legislative changes will only bring about a bigger bureaucracy, which will then be reflected in higher fees. Note, that intended changes concern the simplification of the fee structure to improve client's standing (e.g., advance info about fee changes, the cancellation of some charges, and the creation of an ombudsman’s office). The agreement and implementation schedule should be known in January 2006.
