The Prague Stock Exchange continued to strengthen last week, as the headline PX-50 index rose by 2.7% to 641.2 points. The blue chips PX-D index closed Friday at 1,592.0 points, up 3.1% on the week. The overall traded volume on the PSE was USD 289.8m, which was 49% above the 12M weekly average. Cesky Telecom was the busiest stock last week, as USD 104.9m worth of its shares changed hands.
Erste Bank was the major gainer last week, its stock adding 4.4% to CZK 3,076, supported by the expiration of options in Vienna. Philip Morris CR rose by 4.3% to CZK 15,125 on no apparent news. CEZ strengthened sharply (+4.1%) after government officials announced that CEZ might increase its dividend payments. Cesky Telecom and Unipetrol both rose by more than 3%. Ceske radiokomunikace gave back 0.4% and Komercni banka lost 1.0% on the week.
