Today, the Car importers Association (SDA) released the new car sales numbers for the first half of 2003.
Skoda’s market share in the Czech Republic declined by 4 percent to 47.70%. Skoda sold 36,640 cars in Jan-June which is 2,761 units less than the same period in 2002. The overall sale of new cars in the Czech Republic rose slightly to 76,821 units. (+ 0.87%)
The first five places in the chart of best selling car makers are the same as a year earlier. Renault came in second with 5.96% of the market, Peugeot was third with 5.73% market share, Volkswagen fourth with 5.48% and Opel fifth with 4.62%. Of the top five, Volkswagen and Opel were the only manufacturers to sell more cars than last year: VW added 9 percent and Opel performed very well with an increase of 17%.
